DAYLONG Online Retreats

DAYLONG Online Retreats

Daylong retreats are held mostly in silence and include periods of sitting and walking meditation, instructions,  a dharma talk, and an opportunity to ask questions of the teacher.  They take place in our Zoom virtual Meditation Hall.

    • Registration:  You will need to have or create an IRC login to register. You will then receive an email with a link to the website which will include all the details you need, including the schedule for the day and the Zoom link to the Meditation Hall.
    • Cost:  Our retreats are offered freely at no cost to those who participate. Most of IRC’s financial support comes from donations participants offer at the end of retreats.  Their generosity is what allows others to participate in future retreats.  Donations may be made on the Retreat Donation section of our website.

    • Questions:  Contact the Registrar for the daylong retreat you are registering for. (See below)

1 day Online Daylong Retreat: Modes of Investigation with Kim Allen
June 1, 2024,  Saturday, 9:00 am  to 4:30 pm

Dharma practice involves a deep exploration of reality. This kind of exploring is a skill in and of itself, as well as being a factor of awakening in the classical list of seven. This daylong includes practices of investigation and inquiry that rely on several modes of knowing. Participants will broaden and refine their understanding of Dharma investigation and how it facilitates liberation.

The day will include sitting and walking meditation, instructions, a dharma talk, and an opportunity to ask questions of the teacher. The retreat will take place in our Zoom virtual Meditation Hall.

You will receive an email with a link to the website we use for our online retreats one week before the retreat starts. This website will include all the details you will need, including the schedule for the day and the Zoom link to the Meditation Hall.

1 day Daylong Online Retreat: RAFTT, A Mindfulness Practice with Tanya Wiser
July 13, 2024,  Saturday, 9:00 am  to 4:30 pm

Mindfulness is akin to rafting, as illustrated in a teaching attributed to the Buddha, where he likened mindfulness to a raft. This metaphor emphasizes that mindfulness must be actively practiced, cultivated, and sustained. Like building a raft to navigate turbulent waters, mindfulness helps us traverse challenging experiences. For the RAFTT practice, each step mirrors assembling the elements of a raft to navigate the currents of mind, perception, and emotion.
